The 7th edition of “O Curt”, the neapolitan expo dealing with short films (to be held in Naples in September 2004), curated by Comune di Napoli - Mediateca S.Sofia with contribution from Pigrecoemme " Porte Invisibili Media, is due to feature a new section dedicated to music videoclip and curated by Freak Out magazine’s staff.
The spirit of such an expo has always consisted in encouraging the exchange and the comparison among different artistic expressions, and proposing itself as a permanent view in order to document and keep, year by year, the evolution of the varied world of independent cinematografic production. As videoclip’s style, among the expressive form linked to cinema’s instruments, has shown itself, at least since the times of MTV-for-all’s revolution, as a vital and innovative product, the choice to reserve this particular genre a section on this purpose is coherent at all with this expo’s aims.
The videoclip section is set to be a further functional possibility to allow mainly those authors who, by choice or because of external factors, work far from the “institutional” streams and prefer to feel free and work in more “independent” contexts, to get visibility and and an occasion of comparison.
Subscriptions are open to italian and international artists and to musicians, whether having or not a recording deal, who will have to send their works to Comune di Napoli - Mediateca S. Sofia via S. Sofia, 7 - 80139 Napoli by June 30th 2004 (the stamp’s date will be kept into consideration). The selection of the stuff sent will be curated by Freak Out magazine’s staff, with possible contribution from non-staff’s experts.
