On March 24th, the BIF&ST – Bari International Film Festival will host the world premiere of the documentary "Rumore - Human Vibes", which explores the intersection of music and human rights through songs that have received the Amnesty Award in the Big category over the last 20 years. This award is given by the festival "Voci per la Libertà" and Amnesty International Italy to singers who use their song lyrics to promote the themes of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
On April 4th, the film will be screened in Rome at Officina Pasolini, a creative high-level training laboratory and cultural HUB directed by Tosca and supported by the Lazio Region. The deadline for submissions for the Amnesty Youth Award is March 20th. This award offers young artists (under 35) the opportunity to be finalists in the Emerging Artists category of the 26th edition of "Voci per la Libertà – Una canzone per Amnesty", which will take place in Rovigo from July 21st to July 23rd.
All artists who submit their songs on human rights by the deadline will be voted on by young members of Amnesty International, and the winner will have direct access to the final stages in Rovigo. All other submissions will be evaluated along with the other contestants, and the final deadline for submissions is April 22nd. "Rumore - Human Vibes" is based on the belief that silence is the soundtrack of authoritarian regimes, and that making noise and spreading awareness of human rights is the first step towards reclaiming them. The film features well-known artists such as Ivano Fossati, Carmen Consoli, Niccolò Fabi, Paola Turci, Daniele Silvestri, Modena City Ramblers, Nada, Negramaro, Roy Paci, Simone Cristicchi, Mannarino, Brunori Sas, and Frankie Hi-Nrg mc. The documentary is rich with original footage from Amnesty International's archive, documenting grave human rights violations. The juxtaposition of this footage with music and familiar faces from the music industry invites the viewer to take a stand or at least question the contemporary and future issues presented.
"Rumore – human vibes" is written and directed by Simona Cocozza, a filmmaker from Naples, and produced by Amnesty International Italy, Flicktales, and Giallomare Film. The world premiere will take place as part of the pre-inauguration event of the Bif&st – Bari International Film&Tv Festival on March 24th, 2023, at 6:00 pm at the Teatro Kursaal Santalucia, followed by a discussion with Simona Cocozza, Roy Paci, and Riccardo Noury (spokesperson for Amnesty International) moderated by the director David Grieco.
