Brussels: On 10 September, Jean-Pierre Jouyet, Minister of State responsible for European Affairs, Christine Albanel, Minister for Culture, and Bertrand Delanoë, Mayor of Paris, will inaugurate a big map of the European Union on the lawn of the Champ de Mars, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

Passersby will be able to familiarise themselves with the geography of the European Union by walking around this map and learning more about each of the 27 Member States by reading the information panels displayed all over it.

Two children from each of the Member States and the Member States' Ambassadors in France as well as representatives from European associations have been invited to attend this inauguration. Their presence symbolises the reality of European integration, a union of of men and women whose diversity enriches the house of Europe. It also bears witness to a Europe that is resolutely turned to the future.
