Conosco Marcia Theophilo da molti anni, ne apprezzo sia le capacità poetiche che l’impegno per la difesa della natura, due aspetti in lei profondamente legati.
La sua poesia infatti è una forza della natura: intensa, intricata, dilagante come le foreste e i fiumi della sua natia Amazzonia. Le radici indigene che ancorano i suoi poemi alla Terra Madre scavano e riportano alla luce una conoscenza arcaica in cui la magia delle parole si intreccia con quella della selva.
Nei miei anni di presidenza del WWF e dei Verdi Italiani ho avuto accanto la voce sonora e possente di Marcia in tutte le battaglie a tutela della Natura e del nostro vulnerabile pianeta.
Credo sia arrivato il momento che un prestigioso riconoscimento internazionale possa premiare il genio poetico che scorre fluviale - come un “rio“ della sua patria - nelle opere di Marcia.
