Romania and Bulgaria mark 1 year in EU

Improved national self-confidence and economic stability are just two of the things MEPs from the EU's two newest states picked out as the results of a year of EU membership. As they mark their first year in the Union we spoke to some of the 35 Romanian and 18 Bulgarian MEPs who were elected last year. As well asking them about their work in the Parliament, we asked them to share their impressions of the first year of EU membership and also to look forward to the 2009 European elections.

« Alors, heureux ? » Un an après l’adhèsion, dèputès bulgares et roumains rèpondent

Voilà un an que la Bulgarie et la Roumanie font partie de la famille européenne. Depuis leur adhésion à lUnion Européenne, au 1er janvier 2007, les deux pays ont organisé des élections directes pour désigner leurs représentants au Parlement européen. Les 35 députés européens roumains et 18 députés bulgares élus siègent actuellement dans lhémicycle jusquaux prochaines élections, en juin 2009. Ils reviennent ici pour nous sur une année qui a changé leur pays.

Bulgaria y Rumanía se unieron a la familia europea el 1 de enero de 2007. En este primer año como miembros de la Unión Europea, ambos países celebraron elecciones a la Eurocámara (Bulgaria el 20 de mayo y Rumanía el 25 de noviembre), de las que resultaron elegidos los 35 eurodiputados rumanos y dieciocho búlgaros que representarán a sus países hasta junio de 2009, fecha de los próximos comicios europeos.
