TESTA DI BUDDHA, PIEDI DEL REGISTA: 'BLASFEMO' IL FILM AMERICANO?

THAILAND, Un attore che siede sull’enorme testa di una statua di Buddha, con i piedi che ricadono sopra gli occhi dell’effigie della divinità : è il poster del film statunitense ’Hollywood Buddha’ che ha scandalizzato i monaci tailandesi, fino a spingerli a chiedere al loro governo di intervenire nella vicenda.
L’immagine è stata considerata blasfema perché, per i buddisti, la testa è la parte più sacra del corpo e non può essere toccata da nessuno, mentre i piedi sono la parte meno sacra e non possono neppure essere indicati: Philippe Caland, autore, regista e protagonista del film " che narra la storia di un produttore di Hollywood impegnato a resistere mentre tutto sembra congiurare contro di lui " avrebbe perciò doppiamente offeso la religione buddista, sedendo sulla testa del Buddha e mettendogli i piedi vicino agli occhi. "Caland ha oltraggiato i buddisti di tutto il mondo" ha detto Chularat Bunyakorn, capo del Segretariato del Consiglio dei monaci buddisti di Bangkok, aggiungendo che "il ministero degli Esteri tailandese deve assumere iniziative immediate" contro la pellicola, che uscirà a Los Angeles il 24 settembre.
Oltre alla Thailandia, dove quasi il 95% della popolazione è buddista, proteste contro il film anche in Sri Lanka (70% di buddisti); ieri si è tenuta una dimostrazione contro Caland di diversi monaci e fedeli laici davanti all’ambasciata Usa nella capitale Colombo.[LM]
