Il Regno di Giordania permetterà a 50.000 bimbi iracheni rifugiati di andare a scuola

I bambini iracheni figli di profughi saranno accolti, nelle scuole della Giordania il prossimo anno scolastico, anche se le loro famiglie non fossero ancora entrate in possesso del permesso di soggiorno. Questo risolve un grande dramma della comunità irachena in Giordania. È una delle iniziative deliberate, proprio ad Amman, durante il vertice tra Siria, Giordania, Egitto, Turchia e ONU per trovare una soluzione al problema dei profughi iracheni.
l’Alto Commissariato delle Nazioni Unite per i Rifugiati (Acnur) ha stimato in almeno 1 milione e 400mila i profughi iracheni in Giordania e 750mila in Siria.

Secondo l’ONU, nei paesi confinanti con l’Iraq e non solo, vivono 4 milioni gli iracheni che, dopo il 2003, hanno abbandonato il paese.

Purtroppo l’emergenza umanitaria non diminuisce. Proprio in questi giorni infatti, l’importante ONG britannica Oxfam ha denunciato la situazione della popolazione civile irachena, sempre più drammatica.

Le strutture dei paesi confinanti sono al collasso, non riuscendo più a gestire una tale flusso di profughi. Senza un forte impegno da parte della comunità internazionale, si rischiano espulsioni di massa. In quest'ottica la decisione del governo del Re Abdullah II di Giordania rappresenta un elemento molto positivo e significativo in una situazione disperata.
